Since fall 2016, the Global Scholar option has provided University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students with a 12-credit, self-directed course of study as a way to distinguish themselves as global citizens.
“The Global Scholar option provides an ideal pathway to enhance global literacy and challenges students to consider under-represented perspectives and approaches to critical global issues,” said Angela Subulwa, UW Oshkosh associate professor of geography.
Subulwa helped in the process of establishing the Global Scholar option, an initiative led by Franca Barricelli, College of Letters and Science associate dean, and Druscilla Scribner, university fellow for global studies.
“The new global contexts in which we all live and interact demand that we think in new ways about what our world most needs from its citizens,” Subulwa said. “The Global Scholar option provides Titans with the knowledge, skill and ability to think in these new ways.”
