Taking flight: As they boarded a plane at Winnebago County Airport in September 1968, (from the left) Michael Berken, Sandra Fruhman, Kris DeBruin and Thomas Recob became the first Wisconsin State University–Oshkosh students to participate in a new exchange program with African colleges. The group, taking part in a yearlong stay at Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone, was seen off by University President Roger Guiles, College of Letters and Science Dean Arthur Darken, international studies chair Manfred Wenner and political science instructor Jan Feagans.
Right: In July 2010, UWO football coaching staff and players assisted World War II veterans as they prepared for the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., from EAA AirVenture. Approximately 80 veterans from the region took a day-long tour of the D.C. memorials before returning to Oshkosh.
