Alumni Memory: Tom Rath ’70 and MST ’76

On the 100th anniversary of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference, I would like to pay tribute to the Athletic Department at UW Oshkosh and the coaching staff from all the sports past and present that were and continue to be so supportive of our athletes.

UW Oshkosh is well-represented in the list of all-time teams as recognized at the recent conference Centennial Celebration held in Madison. I personally have many fond memories of competing in Track and Field, along with my teammates who were led by Head Coach  James Flood who later would serve as athletic director.

The tradition continues …

  • Tom, I’m with you on the praise for the UWO Athletic Department. Coach Flood was a class act and set an example for all of us to follow. The Track program has come so far since those early days when Kolf was the first real indoor facility and the conference indoor season was initiated. I’ll always remember my little wins on the home track as highlights of my time at Oshkosh along the ragtag bunch that won the conference in ’73.

  • RIP Coach Flood. Thanks for convincing me to be a Titan.
